Euroalert.net accessibility policy

Introduction

Euroalert.net has been specifically designed to allow anyone, at anytime, access to its information and services regardless of their physical or technological capabilities.

All aspects which make up the Euroalert.net interface fit into the level Triple-A Web 1.0 Content Accesibility Guidelines (WCAG 1.0) created by the WAI Working Group from the W3C.

With strict adherence to these policies, Gateway S.C.S. tries to break down the social discrimination and barriers which might occur when new technologies are created and used.

Fast navigation (Keyboard shortcuts)

For our website, we have adopted the keyboard commands which are globally recognised as defined by the Web Handbook (Public Administration of the United Kingdom):

  • S - Skip to content
  • 1 - Home
  • 2 - About
  • 3 - Site map
  • 8 - Legal
  • 9 - Contact
  • 0 - Accesibility

To enable you to navigate the main sections of Euroalert.net using the keyboard, we have defined the following shortcuts:

  • t - Hot Topics!
  • s - News
  • r - EU programmes
  • a - Calls for Proposals
  • e - Calls for Tenders
  • d - Widgets
  • l - EU Blogs

Accessibility

All the pages from Euroalert.net have been verified to ensure that no automatically detectable errors exist at level Triple-A. To ensure this conformance we use the most sophisticated automatic verification systems available today:

  • T.A.W
  • H.E.R.A

Given that it is impossible to fully check all aspects of the system, Gateway S.C.S. has developed a constant process of manual revision of all aspects of the system to ensure that we have achieved the level of conformance claimed.

  • Gateway S.C.S WAI-AAA WCAG 1.0

In this way, it has been approved that all web pages of Euroalert.net pass the automatic verification of section 508 using the following tools:

  • Cynthia

Our agreement is to continue working on the improvement of Euroalert.net thus, we ask that if you encounter any difficulties or have any suggestions that may help us develop further, to contact us by any means. All are listed in the section Contact.
